About the Kaintuckeean

The Kaintuckeean is the brainchild of Peter Brackney. Peter is an attorney, local historian, preservationist and blogger (obviously) who adopted Kentucky as his home at an early age. A double alum of the University of Kentucky, he bleeds blue. He serves on the boards of both the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation and his church.

In 2014, Peter published his first book - Lost Lexington - through the History Press. He practices law in Lexington and lives near Lexington with his family.

From time to time, the Kaintuckeean also features contributed posts from a number of other awesome Kentuckians who love history and historic preservation.

"Soon after, I returned home to my family, with a determination to bring them as soon as possible to live in Kentucky, which I esteemed a second paradise, at the risk of my life and fortune."  –  Daniel Boone

"I pledge allegiance to the Kentucky flag, and to the Sovereign State for which it stands, one Commonwealth, blessed with diversity, natural wealth, beauty, and grace from on High." –  KRS 2.035
